Back in 1995, I was fortunate to be invited to work on a unique CD-ROM project for the US Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics. The disc was to involve travel and tourism statistics from around the world, with a bent on tourism as it relates to the transportation industry. I was the interface designer and also assisted with some of the programming on the disc. The whole project was built using Macromedia Director and I did the screen art in PhotoShop. Over 18 months, the product eventually was released to a positive reviews. The interface uses a world/region/country drill-down approach to getting to the statistical documents on the disc, with a common "button palette" for other navigational controls. Below are some of the more than 100 screens on the disc. I still have a few copies of the final CD-ROM, which I would be happy to demonstrate in person if you are interested.

One of the disc's nine regions which combines elements of the countries from this region. |
Bright colors and vivid photography make this one of my favorite screens on the disc. |

Drawing on the modern beauty and ancient traditions, this screen evokes Hong Kong's flair. |
The map of Honduras masks a river image, and other interesting details enliven this screen. |
Culturally rich, this screen tries to capture some of the romanticism of Italy. |
