Identity Systems
The core of any communications is a good identity system. This
is more than your company's logo; it's the style and image that
you present to the world. I've done a fair number of CI's over the
years. The typical package includes a logo, letterhead, business
card, and envelope. You can add anything to the mix that you want,
including notepads, mousepads, pens, and so forth. But the basic
rule of thumb is consistency, which is what you should expect from
me.
Brochures
Corporate brochures come in many shapes and sizes, but the standard
is the letter-size trifold. I've done a slew of these and have worked
in two-color, one-color, full-color and so on. The brochure is often
the first piece of communication that a prospective customer will
receive about your business. Thus, ensuring that it sets the right
tone for your needs is my number one job. For some clients, I have
helped from start to finish, learning about the company's business
and strengths, then writing the copy, choosing appropriate art,
and consulting on color and appropriate voice. In other instances,
I provide the layout and art direction, with the client providing
all the materials. It's up to you.
Posters, Flyers, and
Banners
Having done a lot with nonprofit firms over the years, I have
a lot of experience in the creation and production of the full range
of publicity and advertising toolsfrom 1-color flyers to four-color
posters, and vinyl banners, I understand the process and enjoy creating
eye-catching designs for my clients. Trade show booths and large-scale
banners are also available.
Websites
Print media is important to put something tangible in a customer's
hands, but when they need additional information, the Web is unsurpassed
for providing an outlet for quick and easy information. It's always
available, requires little maintenance once it's built, and offers
a plethora of ways to communicate your ideas, products, or services.
As a graphic designer, I have concentrated my energies on learning
how to build well-constructed, clean sites, with little fanfare.
I don't do database integration, FrontPage, Perl, Java et al, but
I have created pleasing front-ends for products that incorporate
these tools. If you seek something more than static pages, I can
work with your in-house team, or have a network of folks that can
work with me to provide the service you require.
Multimedia
I have worked on several projects
designed to work with CD-ROM and web-based multimedia applications.
For instance, a recent project involved creating graphics and consulting
on layout for a computer-based training project developed in Authorware.
Previously, I have developed in Macromedia Director and built the
majority of screens for a 90-country CD-ROM on travel and tourism.
The H Street website introduces some elements of Flash interactivity
for a neighborhood map tool that helps residents find information
about their local representatives and more. And I'm always learning
and trying new things. If your project needs something I'm not familiar
with, I'm happy to learn it or partner with someone who can round
out the team.
Custom Assignments
I am open to new projects and ideas that you may have. Perhaps
the most enjoyable project I've done was for my own wedding program.
Its unique design, thoughtful contents (written by my wife and I),
and photography has led to commissions from several other soon-to-be-married
couples seeking a unique way to commemorate their day. Let me know
how I can help you.
Philosophy and Pricing
As a designer, I have worked with a variety of different clients,
large and small. My philosophy toward a project is simple: I work
to make the client happy and am not satisfied until the job is done
right. In order to provide this kind of service, I usually quote
jobs based on the actual value of the work to the client and an
estimate of how long I think it will take me to provide that service.
As a rule of thumb, if you think the project is worth doing, I think
it's worth making it memorable. I want both of us to be proud of
the finished product.
If you'd like more information or would like to discuss a project,
please feel free to get in touch.
